Whether these athletes were riding bikes, surf boards or just playing tennis they all were so motivated to keep going. From these videos I learned that anything is possible. I didn’t know how someone could possibly get back on a surf board after they couldn’t walk or swim, but they found a way. I learned that any sport can be adapted to fit the needs of the person. There are probably many ways that the sports can be adapted to each circumstances. All that is needed is a little creativity and some tools and anyone can do anything. I loved how positive these people are. It becomes so easy for me to get bitter at my circumstances when life gets hard some times, but they never gave up. I loved in the last video I watched, the boy talked about research being done to find a cure for spina bifida. He says in the interview that if there was a cure found, he wouldn’t want it because this is who he is. I learn a lot about motivation and dedication from people like this. If you have a passion, don’t give up. It wasn’t easy for them to get there and for people like Jesse it took a few years of trial and struggle, but now they have succeeded. I learned that even when life gets hard with what I love, I can adjust and move on. These people have an even bigger love for life than they did before their injury. I think moments like this make us think about how valuable life really is and really appreciate it more. That is the most important thing I learned from this. I need to live in the moment. They didn’t know this was going to happen to them and they could either let it stop them or just pause them for a minute. That’s what I can do with my life.
